“I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture.” John 10:9 This past weekend, our son celebrated one of the most special and sacred days of his life thus far, receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. It was a day of excitement, anticipation, preparation, and ultimately great joy in receiving Christ through the Eucharist for the first time. Father Dave spoke so beautifully about how Jesus is the Good Shepherd who calls us each by name and who always protects and love us. And how Jesus, like the shepherds of his time, is like a gate who guards us, protects us, and opens us up to beautiful freedom when the time is right. It was such a perfect message as these precious children received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time, knowing that the love of Christ would always be in their hearts to guide them, encourage them, and keep them safe. For Meditation: Take a moment in quiet meditation. Picture Jesus standing in front of you as the shepherd and you standing next to Him as the sheep. He calls you by name and you follow Him. Listen closely to the words He has to tell you and the visions He places on your heart. Sit in silence and allow the Good Shepherd, The Gate, to open your heart to the beautiful message He has for you today. Written by Amy Connelly for the OLQA Mom’s Group
