The moving story of the Prodigal Son teaches of God's absolute love for us and His willingness to forgive. In this parable, Jesus gives a vivid picture of God and His unconditional love for all of His sons and daughters. Just as the father in the story rejoices at the return of his lost son, so too does our Heavenly Father celebrate when we return to Him. God never loses hope or gives up when we stray, but He rejoices in finding the lost and in welcoming us back home. Meditation: Enjoy some quiet time with the Lord! Read the Parable of the Prodigal Son (click here to read Luke 15: 11-32) or click on the picture above for a sweet video version of the story. After reading the parable, close your eyes and picture yourself as the mother in the story. Mediate on every aspect of the account from the mother’s perspective. What are your emotions when your son chooses to take the money and abandon your family? How do you feel when you see him return and embrace his father, your husband? What is your role in the celebration? What do you say to your returned son? What do you say to your older son? What do you say to your husband? What do you say to the Lord? Further questions for meditation on the Parable of the Prodigal Son as discussed in our Faith Sharing at the OLQA Mom's Group this week:
“But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and is alive again, and was lost and has been found.”
